Background
I've been a CPA in South Florida for over twenty-five years, spending seventy-five percent of my time on commercial accounts. I typically do tax preparation and financial statement compilations and reviews and provide a wide range of advice and assistance to my clients.
Small Business Perspective
I understand small business because I am a small business. I operate out of a home office just like many of my clients. While for some a home office is a necessity, for me working out of a home office has been a lifestyle choice. It has its good points and bad points, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. These days, so much of my business is conducted electronically that my virtual office/home office works just as well as a storefront.
My commercial client base has ranged from start-up companies to companies with sales in the tens of millions. I enjoy them all. Small business and entrepreneurship drives our economy and I love to work with people who have a vision to pursue. I do everything I can to help them succeed.
Philosophy
If you own a small business, your focus needs to be on production, not bookkeeping. A good bookkeeping system should operate as a natural extension of your daily activity. If you find yourself staying up nights trying to "catch up" on your bookkeeping, something is wrong.
Computers are absolutely mandatory for accountants and I've been committed to technology since the late 1980s. I run a paperless office with a triple backup system for safety. I'm always looking for ways to use technology to work smarter.
